Chairman Mao Tse Tung class train. JF-304 was built in Japan in 1941 and renamed after capture in October 1946. Used at least once by Mao.

The first 20 units were built in the USA in 1918, with another 2000 units built in Japan and China for use in Japanese-occupied northeast China and Korea. After the wars over 400 more units were made in China for domestic use. Some were in service until c. 1995.

Chinese General Zhu De class train JF-1191 was built in Japan in 1942 and renamed after capture in October 1946. Zhu De was head of state in 1975-76.

JF-2101 was named “National Day” in September 1950 for the first anniversary of the PRC.
Number 2101 was the first Chinese-produced locomotive made in the PRC.

The China Railways FD class of locomotives were 1-5-1 steam locomotives of the Russian FD (Felix Dzerzhinsky) locomotive type imported from Russia and regauged for use in China.
The FD class locomotives were imported from Russia from 1958 to provide main line freight motive power for the Chinese railways. Over 1000 units were acquired and remained in service until 1985.
When imported the class were designated YH YouHao “friendship”, but after the breakdown of Sino-Soviet relations during the Cultural revolution the class were renamed FX (FanXiu meaning 'anti-revisionist'). In 1971 the class were returned to the original designation 'FD' of soviet Russian origin (after Felix Dzerzhinsky).
